The Australian Government has cancelled the CRICOS registration of the BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning), known as the GDML. This change affects international students who planned to enrol in or switch to this course.

What happened

The Australian Government has made a legislative instrument under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) to suspend and cancel the CRICOS registration of the GDML [S1]. International students will no longer be able to enrol in or commence the GDML [S1]. Australian education providers will not issue new Confirmations of Enrolment (CoEs) for this program, and providers cannot enrol new overseas students in the GDML [S1]. CoEs for students who have not commenced the GDML by 5 October will be cancelled [S1]. Students who have already enrolled in and commenced the GDML before 5 October 2026 can continue studying and complete the course if they choose to do so [S1].

What it means for Kuwaiti students and families

Kuwaiti students and families should be aware that the GDML is no longer an option for new enrolments. This change highlights the importance of choosing a course that aligns with genuine study plans and intentions. The Australian Government is committed to strengthening the integrity and quality of the international education sector [S1]. This move is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of the international education sector and comes as the government is looking to slow migration arrivals [S2]. Assistant Minister for International Education Julian Hill said Labor was acting to ensure Australia remained a "trusted global education destination" to protect students and "prevent misuse of the visa system" [S2].

What has not changed

The cancellation of the GDML does not affect the 37 approved Australian universities where Kuwaiti students may enrol for bachelor's and postgraduate study [S3] [S4]. Being CRICOS-registered does not make an institution MoHE-approved; Kuwaiti recognition depends on the Kuwaiti lists [S3].

What to do now

  • Check if you are affected by this change and contact your Australian education provider as soon as possible [S1].
  • If you have not commenced the GDML by 5 October, your CoE will be cancelled [S1].
  • If you have already enrolled in and commenced the GDML before 5 October 2026, you can continue studying and complete the course [S1].
  • Consider alternative courses that align with your genuine study plans and intentions.
  • Stay informed about changes in the international education sector and visa requirements.

The bottom line

The cancellation of the GDML underscores the importance of choosing a course that aligns with genuine study plans. Kuwaiti students and families should stay informed about changes in the international education sector and visa requirements. By choosing a course that aligns with their genuine study plans, students can ensure a positive and rewarding study-in-Australia experience.
